If your baby was recently born in Saudi Arabia, one of the most urgent steps is obtaining their Iqama (residency permit). This article provides a simple, clear roadmap for expat families to help complete the process — from Absher uploads to collecting the Iqama from Jawazat. We’ve also included expert guidance on certified translations required for document approval.
✅ Step 1: Pay the Dependent Fees
You must pay the dependent fee online using your bank’s SADAD service.
✅ Step 2: Upload the Documents via Absher Tawasul
Once fees are paid, compile the necessary documents into one PDF file (under 1MB) for Absher upload.
📄 Required Documents:
Baby’s Birth Certificate (Arabic translation if non-Arabic)
Baby’s Passport Copy (Arabic translation required)
Valid Medical Insurance
Dependent Fee Payment Receipt
Baby’s Passport-sized Photo
Parents’ Passports (bio page & visa — translated)
Parents’ Iqama Copies
💡 Compress your PDF file if it exceeds 1MB.
🔄 Absher Upload Process:
Log in to Absher
Go to: My Services > Passports > Tawasul
Click: New Request
Choose:
Sector: خدمات للمقيمين داخل المملكة
Service: اضافة مولود
Request Description: “Request for Iqama for Newborn”
Upload the compressed PDF
📩 You’ll receive a confirmation SMS once submitted, followed by an approval SMS.🖨 Print the approval acknowledgment from Absher.
✅ Step 3: Book Jawazat Appointment
Once you have the Tawasul approval, book an appointment through Absher:
How to Book:
Go to Appointments > Passport > Proceed to Service
Choose: Resident Services
Select region & preferred Jawazat office
Pick a date & time
Print your appointment slip
Bring These Documents:
Appointment confirmation
Tawasul approval
Printed PDF of submitted documents
Baby’s original passport
Recent photo of the baby
✅ Step 4: Collect the Iqama for your Newborn Baby
On the day of your appointment, arrive 10–15 minutes early at the Jawazat office.
Show your documents, receive Iqama for your newborn baby, and verify the details.
🎉 Congrats — your newborn now has legal residency in Saudi Arabia!
